That Berlin has much going for is a known fact. A lot of sightseeing, parks and cultural offers open up a whole new world for you to discover. But there is something else that makes Berlin that unique: a water expanse that covers 137.376 hectare of Berlins area. Therefore it is sometimes called "Spree-Venice". But not only the river spree is located in the German capital. Many lakes like the lido at Wannsee or Orankesee lay the foundations of a perfect summer day. We collected some useful information about the favored swimming spots, certainly distinguished with a blue flag label.

Indeed. The beach at lido Wannsee is originally from the coast of the baltic sea. Maritime flair just 10 minutes walking distance from the hectical center of Berlin. It is open during summer until the 30th of september - current opening times are published on the website.

To visit the lido you can decide whether travelling by public transport or by car. The car park has 350 parking positions available. If you prefer to use public transport you have two different options. First you can take the S-Bahn to "Nikolasee". It is a station of S-Bahn line S1 or S7. Second possibility is take the bus to station "Kronprinzessinnenweg/Ecke Wannseebadweg" on line 218. Both stations are about 10 minutes walking distance to the lido Wannsee.

At lake "Kleiner Müggelsee" you are invited to enjoy excellent water quality and an idyllic surroundig. Sunbathers will take delight on the sandy beach while families can have a picnic in the penumbra. If you are looking for a more romantic spot you can find little bays apart from the public beach.

The lake "Schlachtensee" is located in the south west of Berlin and provides an outstanding water quality as well. The high-lying shore is burred by the rootage of the surrounding trees. The controlled district of the beach features a restaurant including a beer garden. Around the sea line you will find some bays to allow the turmoil to fade away.
